It is with sadness we post the passing of our mining consultant, Paul Burton last month, April 2018. Paul worked with us on many projects since the very early days of Hinde Capital. One of our fondest memories was of our times attending the annual Zurich gold conference, especially in 2010 when due to the volcano in Iceland, all flights in Europe were suspended by five days and the Park Hotel bar was ten-deep for the duration! Our thoughts are with his family, at this time.
Paul was the Hinde Gold Fund Mining Consultant. After initially working as a mining engineer, he spent much of his career in mineral economics and marketing, most notably at Gold Fields in South Africa.
Paul graduated from the Camborne School of Mines in 1975 with an Associateship in Mining Engineering. He subsequently gained an MSc in Mineral Economics and an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
Paul was the Chairman of the FTSE Gold Mines Index Committee which he has served on for 15 years. He was a well known speaker on the international conference circuit on both the industry and investment sides.
